Do you care where you watch movies?
Do you care where you watch your movies? This year, there was a big brouhaha at the Cannes Film Festival because the Netflix produced Okja starring Tilda Swinton was in competition. The problem there was as simple as Netflix is not a cinema. Okja is now available on Netflix but still in the cinemas. This week, it was fourth in the box office in Korea despite a boycott by the three largest cinema chains in Korea. Does this mean that cinema goers, still went to the cinema and people who would not normally go to the cinema, simply watched it at home, bringing the film to a wider audience, instead of cannibalising the revenue? Do you go to the cinema regularly? If you do not, will you watch films more if you could watch them at home? Answers on an e-postcard!
