Dexter Davis goes to Africa @dstreetmg

This year, the Zanzibar International Film Festival is launching a new marketplace for films from around Africa. Chief Guest is executive producer, entrepreneur and CEO of D Street Media Group, Dexter Davis. Dexter will be at ZIFF to host a series of workshops on marketing and distribution, as well as pitching.  Davis is building a state-of-the-art film and TV studio in the beautiful town of Port Shepstone. A municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.

Dexter Davis is committed to producing and distributing films from the African continent to the United States and around the world. Developing content with Africa talent and American talent is key to establishing a star system in Africa and is an important element to how Africa will get out of the shadow of the United States and Europe when it comes to international cinema.  Lovely!

But where are the Africans with access to the same opportunities to facilitate the telling of their own stories? We are compiling a list of Producers of African descent, who are at the forefront of storytelling. Send us suggestions. Please!
